HAKUCHO Satellite
HAKUCHO, which means "swan" or "cygnus" in Japanese, is the first Japanese
X-ray astronomy satellite. HAKUCHO, formerly known as CORSA-b, was
launched by the M-3C-4 rocket on February 21, 1979, at Kagoshima Space
Center (KSC). It had observed the X-ray sources of space origin, including
X-ray burst and soft X-ray nebulae until it rentered the earth's atmosphere
on April 16, 1985.
